Convincing Reluctant Teachers

The main idea is that traditional teaching methods do not lead students to a deeper understanding of the concepts.

The points are that teachers who ‘traditionally’ teach do not engage students in the rigor necessary to successfully master the new standards nor pass the new standardized assessments.

The author suggests having the reluctant teachers administer a basic conceptual diagnostic test and wait for the results, which will (in all likelihood) be poor.  Then, the teachers may be more responsive to a ‘new’ way to teach and engage students through interactive instruction.
